The Blackbird boards were born in our AFS Advanced lab in 2022. Since then, they’ve evolved version after version, session after session, shaped by feedback from riders pushing them every day. A constant drive to improve, with zero compromise on performance. That’s what sets them apart.
After the success of the V3, AFS Advanced takes a new step forward: this fourth version of our iconic model is a bold, controlled evolution — progressing on every front.
A redesigned shape for maximum efficiency
Work on the Blackbird Skinny shape is precise — surgical. The board’s tail has been narrowed, and both the rocker and tail kick have been completely reworked.
The outline, rocker and tail kick have been fully redesigned to improve takeoff ability while maintaining a solid level of stability in any conditions.
Details that change everything: better overall balance, higher cruising speed, and a more progressive foil takeoff.
Even smaller foils
The Skinny was designed in sync with the rapid evolution of high-performance foils. It helps get ever smaller, more efficient foils flying — where other boards would struggle to bring them to life.
A decisive advantage for riders looking to push their level — whether in competition or on downwind freeride sessions.
More touch-down tolerance & easier takeoff
More glide isn’t only about speed. It’s directly linked to touch-down tolerance.
The addition of bevels delays touch-downs as much as possible; when they happen, they’re smooth because the exposed wetted surface is minimal.
The BB Skinny’s tolerance and precision let you push your foil’s performance even further.
Lighter. For real.
The Blackbird Skinny is significantly lighter, thanks to a major evolution of its full-carbon construction. Less mass means less inertia with every paddle stroke, more responsiveness when pumping — ideal for long downwind sessions.
You feel that lightness at every moment: when carrying it, at takeoff, and especially while pumping — where every movement counts.

True to the AFS Advanced DNA, the Blackbird Skinny is made in France at our Pencran factory. Its full-carbon construction with strategically placed reinforcements delivers an outstanding weight-to-stiffness ratio.
