Silk V2 vs Enduro for Surf Foiling: Which Front Wing?

OCTOBER 28, 2026

Table of contents

Torn between the Silk V2 and the Enduro for surf foiling? It all comes down to your waves. The Silk V2 is our surf foil wing. The Enduro has a higher aspect ratio and pumps very efficiently: in 800 or 900 cm², it works for surf foiling in small conditions. To see the full range, head to our surf foil page.

What’s the difference between the Silk V2 and the Enduro?

Both wings were designed with Laurent Borgna. Both are carbon wings. AFS builds its foils in its own factory in Brittany, France. What sets them apart is the shape.

  • Silk V2: aspect ratio 9 across all sizes, from 650 to 1150 cm².
  • Enduro: aspect ratio 11 across all sizes, from 600 to 1300 cm².

At a similar area, the Enduro is longer and slimmer. A Silk V2 850 has a 875 mm (34.4 in) span. An Enduro 900 spans 994 mm (39.1 in). At equal area, a higher aspect ratio gives more glide and more lift, and less maneuverability. Aspect ratio does not make you faster. To dig deeper, read our article on aspect ratio.

We like to compare the Enduro 900 to the Silk 1050. The Silk turns hard and radical in powerful waves, like a shortboard. The Enduro 900 carves more smoothly, like a longboard.

Silk V2 vs Enduro: ride feel compared

In surf foiling, three things matter most: pump, maneuverability and forgiveness. In our foil finder, the “I already have my front wing” path maps your setup across seven ride traits. Here is the profile of two setups of similar size, each with the stabilizer we ship with the wing. Scores out of 100: the higher the score, the stronger the trait.

Trait Silk V2 850 + U-Surf 135 Enduro 900 + U-Carve 150
Glide 35 46
Pump 56 62
Lift 50 57
Speed 60 58
Maneuverability 83 74
Stability 73 72
Forgiveness 67 63

The takeaways:

  • The Silk V2 comes out clearly more maneuverable, and a little more forgiving.
  • The Enduro comes out clearly glidier, and pumps better. It connects mushy sections more easily.
  • Speed and stability are close. Neither wing wins everywhere: the right pick depends on your waves.

Which wing for your waves?

Hollow waves, tight turns: Silk V2

The Silk V2 locks in through the turn and engages the carve right away. Rail-to-rail transitions feel natural. It’s the wing to pick if you want to string turns together.

Mushy waves, flat sections, pump sessions: Enduro

The Enduro combines maneuverability and glide, and it pumps very efficiently. For surf foiling, we recommend it in 800 or 900 cm² for small conditions. To work on that skill, read our pump foiling guide.

Your level

We position the Silk V2 for intermediate to expert riders. If you’re just starting out, read our guide to getting started with foil surfing first.

What size for your weight?

For the Silk V2, here are our surf foil guidelines:

Your weight Target area Silk V2
60 kg (132 lb) ~770 cm² 750
70 kg (154 lb) ~870 cm² 850
80 kg (176 lb) ~970 cm² 950
90 kg (198 lb) ~1,070 cm² 1050
100 kg (220 lb) ~1,170 cm² 1150

Your waves matter too: the 1150 for micro conditions, the 1050 for small waves, the 750 for committed surfing.

For the Enduro, we recommend the 800 or the 900 for surf foiling. To size a wing for your weight, use our foil finder.

Which stabilizer with the Silk V2 and the Enduro?

  • U-Surf: forgiveness, control and grip. It’s our go-to surf foil stabilizer, shipped with the Silk V2.
  • U-Carve: glide, precision and carving. It’s the stabilizer shipped with the Enduro. Its low-end range is much narrower than the U-Surf’s.

On the Silk V2, the stabilizer changes everything. With a U-Carve 130 in surf foiling, a Silk V2 950 has a disappointing low end. With a U-Surf 135, a paddle-in takeoff becomes possible. If you run a U-Carve in the surf, skip the 130 and go with at least the 140. Get the full breakdown in our article U-Surf or U-Carve with the Silk V2.

If you also wing foil or parawing, the simplest option is to own two stabilizers: a U-Surf for the waves, a U-Carve for everything else. You swap the stabilizer and keep your front wing.

The setup we recommend

Hollow waves: Silk V2. Mushy waves: Enduro. One setup per type of wave.

You want to carve hollow waves

  • Front wing: Silk V2, in the size from the chart above.
  • Stabilizer: U-Surf.
  • Mast: 80 cm (31.5 in).

The Silk V2 foil full set includes the front wing, an 80 cm UHM carbon mast, the fuselage and the U-Surf stabilizer. To dial it in, start with the stabilizer in the forward position, and move it back if you want more pitch stability. In surf foiling, you can try a −1° rake shim under the rear screws of the mounting plate: it takes pressure off your front foot. Avoid it for wing foiling and parawing.

You want to pump and glide in mushy waves

  • Front wing: Enduro 900.
  • Stabilizer: U-Carve 150.
  • Mast: 80 cm (31.5 in).

To choose your mast construction, read our AFS carbon mast comparison.

FAQ

Is the AFS Enduro good for surf foiling?

Yes, in 800 or 900 cm², in small conditions. It shines in mushy waves, where pump and glide matter more than tight turns.

What size Silk V2 should I get?

It depends on your weight and your waves. As a guide: the 850 around 70 kg (154 lb), the 950 around 80 kg (176 lb), the 1050 around 90 kg (198 lb). Go up a size for micro conditions.

Which stabilizer goes with the Silk V2 for surf foiling?

The U-Surf. It gives the widest low end and makes paddle-in takeoffs easier.

Can you surf foil with a U-Carve stabilizer?

Yes, but that’s not what it’s built for: its low end is narrower than the U-Surf’s. In the surf, pick the 140 rather than the 130.

What mast length for the Silk V2 or the Enduro in surf foiling?

We recommend an 80 cm (31.5 in) mast. A 75 cm (29.5 in) version is available in the UHM Skinny carbon mast, for shallow spots and experienced riders.

Where are AFS foils made?

In our own factory in Brittany, France.

What about warranty and returns?

Both wings come with a 2-year warranty. For returns, see our terms of sale.

Hollow waves and a taste for carving: go with the Silk V2 and its U-Surf. Mushy waves and long pump sessions: go with the Enduro 900 and its U-Carve 150. To compare our other front wings and build your full foil, head back to our surf foil range.
