Recommended setup
Silk V2 950 + U Surf 150
- Front wingSilk V2 950
- StabilizerU Surf 150
- MastHM 80
- BoardChipri Legacy 4'5 · 35 L
- → At 75 kg, we aim for about 917 cm² of front wing for surf foiling: the Silk V2 950 is the closest.
- → Mast: 75 kg × 0.93 m wingspan, light load: HM 80.
- → Board: For surf foilers already comfortable on the foil: the 4’5 suits most riders. The 4’9 (40 L) for heavier riders or mushy waves.
How it will feel
Everything you need to fly on a wave: front wings, masts, stabilizers, fuselages and surf foil boards, in carbon, made in our factory in France. Not sure about your setup? Our foil finder suggests the stabilizer and mast that suit your front wing and your weight.
Which front wing for your size?
The first criterion is your weight. For surf foiling, aim roughly for these areas:
| Your weight | Target area | At AFS |
|---|---|---|
| 60 kg (132 lb) | ~770 cm² | Silk V2 750, Enduro 800 |
| 70 kg (154 lb) | ~870 cm² | Silk V2 850, Enduro 900 |
| 80 kg (176 lb) | ~970 cm² | Silk V2 950, Enduro 1000 |
| 90 kg (198 lb) | ~1,070 cm² | Silk V2 1050, Enduro 1100 |
| 100 kg (220 lb) | ~1,170 cm² | Silk V2 1150, Enduro 1100 |
The second is your waves: the Silk V2 product page recommends the 1150 in micro conditions, the 1050 in small waves, the 750 for committed wave riding.
- Silk V2, our surf foil wing. More glide, more drive, precise carving. The 1150 lifts very early for micro conditions, the 650 handles big waves and tow-in. For intermediate to expert riders.
- Enduro, longer (AR 11), to link waves by pumping. The Enduro 900 is softer in carving than the Silk V2 1050: a longboard versus a shortboard.

Which mast?
For surf foiling, we recommend an 80 cm mast. The 75 cm exists in UHM Skinny, for shallow spots and experienced riders.
The construction depends on the load, i.e. your weight multiplied by your front wing's span:
- up to 75 kg (165 lb) with a wing under 1 m span, an HR mast is enough;
- in between, take at least an HM;
- from 80 kg (176 lb) with a wing of 1.10 m or more, go for the UHM, whose fibre is up to twice as stiff as standard carbon.
The “Which mast?” foil finder does the maths for you.
Stabilizer and fuselage
- U Surf: the reference surf foil stabilizer, designed for the Silk V2. Forgiveness, grip, confidence.
- U Carve: more glide and freer carving, supplied with the Enduro.
For the fuselage, the short Fuselink (650 mm) makes the foil more agile and helps pumping; the standard one (680 mm) stabilises it at speed and helps take-off. The Fuselink connection is the same across the range: you change fuselage, you keep your wings.
Which board?
- Chipri Legacy (30, 35, 40 L, full carbon, shaped in our factory): for intermediate to advanced surf foilers already comfortable on the foil. The 4'5 suits most riders.
- Single F (40 and 50 L, mid-length): beginner-friendly, comfortable to paddle.
Who makes your foil
AFS has been making foils since 2009 in its factory in Pencran, Brittany, France. We are 40 people: building foils and boards, in the design office, in logistics and customer service. Every front wing is designed and tested by our design office. Meet the team.
In 2025, we surveyed 448 riders: what comes up first is how solid and stiff our foils are, and the UHM carbon of our masts.
What a rider says on the PIMPYOURRIDE Discord (translated from French):
- “I have the Silk V2 750, which is a treat, and the Enduro 600, which is my fighter jet.” Baptiste, September 2026
- 2-year warranty on all our products, 14-day returns.
- Repairs in our factory, trade-in of your old gear.

Frequently asked questions
What wing area to start surf foiling? About 900 cm² for a 75 kg (165 lb) rider, a bit more if your waves are small. A Silk V2 950 or 1050, or an Enduro 900 to 1000, are good starting points.
What mast length for surf foiling? 80 cm in most cases. The 75 cm (UHM Skinny) is for shallow spots.
Silk V2 or Enduro? The Silk V2 if you want to carve and surf the wave. The Enduro if you want to pump from one wave to the next and keep a versatile wing for dockstart or downwind.
Which board to start with? The Single F, with more volume and stable when paddling. The Chipri Legacy once you are comfortable on the foil.
Can you surf foil in small waves? Yes, that is where it shines: with a big wing (Silk V2 1150 or 1050, Enduro 900), a small swell is enough to fly.
